J.D. "Jinx" Lee, 87, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Madrid Home. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Madrid Home Chapel with visitation from 10 to 11 am. Inurnment will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery, Van Meter, IA.

Jinx was born on January 8, 1925 at Albia, IA the son of Roy and Irene (Jordan) Lee. He graduated from Madrid High School and married Eloise Harriman on May 16, 1948 in Albert Lea, MN. Jinx served in the US Army Air Corp as a Corporal during WWII. Jinx and Eloise lived in Fort Dodge, IA in the 1950's where they owned Lee Dance Studio. In 1960, they moved to Atlantic where Jinx worked as a court reporter for the state of Iowa in the 4th Judicial District for over 30 years. Jinx lived in Atlantic until 2005, Des Moines and had been a resident of the Madrid Home since August. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his daughter Lindsay (Rick) Michalski of Van Meter and son Corey (Kathy) Lee of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, seven great -grandchildren and one sister Mary (Harold) Hawkins of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife Eloise on April 10, 1988 and one brother Milton Lee. Jinx was passionate about his family, his country, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He will be greatly missed and will live on in our hearts and memories. Memorials may be directed to the Madrid Home or the Van Meter V.F.W. Post 4903 Building Fund. www.mclarensresthavenchapel.com
