EXIRA DEPARTMENT

Mrs. P. I. Whitted, of this city, received
the following letter, Monday
morning, from her brother, Mr. Levi
Montgomery:

TEMPLETON, CALIFORNIA,

August 31, 1898.

DEAR SISTER.--We received a letter
last Friday from Ethel Edwards saying
that our dear sister, Minerva, had
gone to heaven. She died Sunday
morning, July 24th, at Shingletown, (CA)
about forty miles from Olinda, up in
the mountains, where they had
taken her by the advice of the doctor.
She seemed to improve some for a
week, then grew rapidly worse. She
suffered a great deal the last few days.
Eli has gone up there. Emma is some
better, but not very well; I cannot
write any more. LEVI.

Note: Parents of Minerva Esther Montgomery were Levi B. "L. B." Montgomery and Fannie Boyles.
