Wednesday evening Peter Axelsen,
one of our most thrifty and progressive
Danish farmers, left Exira with a big
load of furniture for his home in south
Sharon township. When within a few
miles of his home he was attacked by
hemorrhage of the lungs and, although
he recovered, is still in a precarious
condition, being so weakly that he
cannot be moved to his own home.Audubon County Journal (IA)

Peter Axelsen, of southeast Sharon
township, died Wednesday forenoon
of last week at 11 o'clock. He had
suffered for months of congestion of
the lungs with complications. About
a month ago he went to the Nebraska
Sanitarium at Lincoln for medical
treatment. He commenced to improve
and returned a week before his
death apparently getting well. He
was taken suddenly ill on Monday,
the period of his final sickness lasting
only about 36 hours. Mr. Axelsen was
about 50 years old and leaves a wife
and four children--two boys and two
girls--the oldest being 18 years of age.
The funeral was held from the home
at 1 o'clock P. M. Friday, Rev. Sorensen
conducting services. A funeral
procession with 71 teams in line
wound their way to the Advent cemetery
where the remains were laid at
rest. The deceased was a highly respected
citizen and neighbor to all
who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The bereaved family in this trying hour
have the sympathy of the entire community.Note: Peter Axelsen was married to Sophia Peterson.
