Betty Lee Feeley, age 85 of Exline, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at The Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa where throughout her residency she received loving and compassionate care from the Center's dedicated staff.
Betty was born May 5, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Eldon and Margaret Roy. She graduated from Mystic High School, Mystic, Iowa. Betty and Robert (Bob) K. Feeley were married in May of 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas and celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death on September 26, 2006. They lived in Rock Island Illinois from 1946 until 1977 at which time Betty left an administrative position at Deere & Company Medical Center, Moline, Illinois to commence retirement. This new phase of life provided 29 years of memorable friendships and high quality family time. Betty was very active in retirement, she and Bob had an acreage south of Exlline, Iowa that they called the Feeley's Forty. Every summer on the "Forty" they would plan new projects and adventures for their two visiting grandsons, who would fondly identify their time there as being at camp grandma's. Betty was spirited and had a love of life. She cherished her many friends and family. She was extremely creative and enjoyed a reputation for entertaining and cooking with a creative flair. She loved doing crafts and was an excellent artist. Early during her retirement Betty worked at the Exline Post Office and later performed nursing home evaluations for the State of Iowa. She was a member of the Highland Cemetery Association, Mystic, Iowa and active in the Reunion Committee for the Mystic High School.
Betty is survived by her son Michael (Sharon) Feeley of Clive, Iowa: two grandsons Michael T. Feeley II of Wheaton, Illinois and Brett P. (Rhonda) of West DesMoines, Iowa; 1 great grandson Liam Michael of West DesMoines and a very special sister in law Sandra Eagle of Milan, Illinois. Betty was proceeded in death by her husband Bob, her sister Jean Ladoucer of Davenport, Iowa and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Lange Funeral Home Centerville, Iowa. Private burial of the remains will be completed with the family shortly thereafter. A Memorial has been established to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Minneapolis, Minnesota and may be mailed or left at the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th st., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
