New schedule, teacher for Diagonal school district
It's back to school time in the Diagonal school district beginning Monday, Aug. 24, and students there will have new school
hours as well as a few new faces in the district. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. each day for the Diagonal
school students this year. The only new faculty member this year is Mikel HANSEN, a first year teacher that the district
is sharing 80-20 with Creston. He will spend 80 percent of his time in Diagonal, where he will teach physical education and
health. He will be in Creston 20 percent of the time. The administration for the school district will remain the same
with spererintendent and elementary principal Karleen STEPHENS and secondary principal Larry TEPLY. Jennifer BICE is
the administrative assistant and Bille Jo GREEN is the district business manager. Elementary teachers include:
Dara GREENLAND, preschool; Terri NEWTON, kindergarten; Crystal STILL, first grade; Shelly LILIENTHAL, second grade;
Sue MOBLEY, third grade; Katee VanARKEL, fourth grade and middle school language arts and math; Melanie KNAPP, fifth grade;
and Kim NIEMAN, elementary resource room special educator. Middle school and high school staff include:
Shelley BENTLEY, middle school/high school resource instructor; Curtis LAMBSON, English, drama and speech; Gabe COOPER,
social studies; Nikki SOBOTKA, math and business; Pat OSWALD, instrumental music; Mary LANGER, vocal music; Diana LARSON,
art; Dick STEPHENS, science; Kim FOUREZ, librarian; Cyndi SOBOTKA, librry aid and guidance; and Mike HANSEN, physical
education. Gabe COOPER, Jim GOINS, Gina KNOX, Mikel HANSEN, Robbie MASON, Katee VanARKEL and Larry TEPLY will be coaches.
Paraeducators will include Bobbi HOFFMAN, Jennifer TULL, Laura BENTLEY, Joan GUNSOLLEY and Monica TAYLOR. Paul
KcKINNEY will be the bus driver and custodians are Mike LOHMANN and Robert MERCER. Kathy YOUNG and Donna GOODMAN will
be the cooks. Sites For Learning staff includes Marci JOHNSON, Lindsey STOAKS and Monica TAYLOR. Tina's Tots will have Tina
AMBROSE, Esther KING and Ashley MERCER on staff.
