AMICK, WORTMAN DIAGONAL HOMECOMING ROYALTY
Katie AMICK was crowned queen and Jason WORTMAN was crowned king when the Diagonal Community high school
homecoming was held Friday. AMICK, the daughter of Audrey DICKINSON and Scott AMICK of Diagonal, and
WORTMAN, son of Roger and Carol WORTMAN of Shannon City, were crowned by last year's homecoming royalty.
Prince Kole PAXSON, son of Jerrica JACKSON and John PAXSON, and princess Cassidy LOHMANN, daughter of
Mike and Rhonda LOHMANN of Diagonal, helped with the coronation. Dress-up days were hold to build spirit for
the week. Monday was dress-up day. Tuesday was favorite character day. Wednesday was camouflage, hillbilly, or
red-neck day. Thursday was sport day, and Friday was spirit day. A pep rally was held Thursday as part of the
homecoming celebration with floats, skits and cheers. Basketball action pitted the Maroonettes and Maroons against
Melcher-Dallas for homecoming basketball games. The teams lost the games. Following the homecoming
games, the homecoming royalty were crowned and a homecoming dance held. Freshman and sophomore
attendants for the homecoming court included: FRESHMAN - Allison WILEY, daughter of Rick and Sherry WILEY of
Diagonal and Melody WILEY of Creston; and Michael BENTLEY, son of Alan and Shelly BENTLEY of Diagonal.
SOPHOMORES - Kaylin BERGER, daughter of John and Deb BERGER of Diagonal; and Ryan WORTMAN, son of Roger and
Carol WORTMAN of Shannon City. Other homecoming queen candidates included juniors Ashley RUBY, daughter of
Doug and Melanie RUBY of Diagonal and Leslie CAMPBELL, daughter of Jerry and Robin CAMPBELL of Clearfield; and
senior Lauren SOBOTKA, daughter of Tammy and Mike THOMAS and Ed SOBOTKA of Clearfield. Other king candidates
include juniors Nolan NEWTON, son of Jim and Patty NEWTON of Diagonal, and Tony WILEY, son of Rick and Sherry
WILEY of Diagonal and Melody WILEY of Creston.
