Marion E. EURITT was elected president of the Mount Ayr Businessmen's Club at a regular meeting held Thrusday evening at
the Americn Legion Hall. He succeeds C. W. (Bill) HORNE, who capably directed the activities of the club during the past
year. Mr. EURITT, Mount Ayr's postmaster, is an active member of the club, having served as first vice-president durin ght
past year.
On May 18 the annual survey for the Ringgold County Hospital was made by Miss Annetta AUSTIN, R.N., Consultant, Nurse,
Division of Hospital Services, Iowa State Department. A gratifying report from Miss AUSTIN was received recently by Miss Louise
WEISSHAAR, administrator of the local county hospital, who desires that the public be advised as to the excellence of its
rating.
Twenty-four neighbors with corn pickers, wagons, tractors and elevators picked corn Saturday for Joe GARRETT of Rice
township who recently suffered hand injuries in a corn picker accident. Sharing in the "good neighbor" deed were Paul
VANDERPLUYM, Forrest MAIN, Ralph PRITCHETT, Emmet GARRETT, Bob RICKER, Junior RICKER, Denzel MOBLEY, Burl MOBLEY, Pete
CAVENDER, Clarence STEPHENS, Raymond MACKEY, Clyde GALBRAITH, Rex BOLINGER, Ralph BEEDE, Harold HUMBERT, George BECK,
Charlie GARRETT, Iver WACKERNAGLE, Bob SEFRIT, George HERRINGTON, Jack WACKERNAGLE, Jesse STEPHENS, Gene CULVER and Gus
WACKERNAGLE. Dinner was provided by and served in the GARRETT home by Darlene MOBLEY, Katherine SEFRIT, Arloa WACKERNAGLE,
Lela MAIN, Martina MOBLEY and Mrs. Joe GARRETT.
An agreement was consummated Thursday, October 20, whereby Emmet R. WARIN became the owner of the office building on
Madison Street, occupied by the Mount Ayr Abstract Company, by purchase from Arthur S. PALMER. Mr. WARIN'S intention is to improve
the property and eventually move his law office to this building. Mr. PALMER has leased private offices from Mr. WARIN
where the Mount Ayr Abstract Company will continue to be located. The building was purchased by Mr. PALMER in 1944 from
Randolph S. BEALL, who used it for a real estate and insurance office for many years.
Harold F. CLOUGH of Monroe township was elected president of the Ringgold County Farm Bureau at the annual meeting of
members held Thursday evening at the Mount Ayr Country Club. Mr. CLOUGH succeeds Eldon RICKER of Washington Township.
