The moving of the Mount Ayr Public Library to the new building began today and it will require the remainder of the week to get the magazines and books in place. The new library will be dedicated on January 1.
The "Palace of Sweets," which has been owned and conducted by Rains & Hargis for the past year or more, was sold Friday to Clell Fuller and Howard McClanahan. It will be good news to the public that A. F. (Fatty) Collins will remain with the new firm.
Earl Hoover, who has been cashier of the bank at Decatur for some time, is moving to Benton to take the place of George L. Bartels as cashier of the bank there.
SHADY GROVE - A large crowd attended the auction and drawing contest at J. K. White's store on Wednesday. George Richardson received first prize, a fur coat, and Rollie Laird, second, won a silver tea set.
BIRTHS
Homer Avey and wife are rejoicing over their first born - a son - since December 8.
Art King and wife have a new daughter since the 13, but it is only the eleventh child.
HIGH POINT - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gilbert on December 10.
