Mpount Ayr Community high school English instructor and speech and drama director Betsy L. Jones is set to have her preliminary hearing on the first degree arson charge Friday, August 23, in magistrate's court here.

Nicole Denney, daughter of Larry and Janis Denney of Mount Ayr, and a 1991 graduate of Mount Ayr Community high school has been selected as district 18 beef queen.

Three new certified staff at Mount Ayr Community high school took part in orientation sessions Tuesday at Mount Ayr Community high school. They are nurse Carolyn Bjustrom, English teacher James Uhlenkamp and band instructor Greg Storhoff.

Connie Bailey of Mount Ayr snagged a hole-in-one at the nine-hole, par 3, at Lake Panorama.
