Donald Jake DAILEY was re-elected president of the Ringgold County Historical Society at its recent meeting. Other officers
elected were H.E. TODD, vice-president; Thelma CARYL, secretary; and Patty BEARD, treasurer. Plans for Mount Ayr's centennial,
which will be next year, were discussed.
Twenty-four schools in 10 townships of Ringgold ounty will open Monday, August 30. Teachers were announced as follows:

In response to Induction Call No. 52, two young men from Mount Ayr went to Des Moines on Monday where they reported
for army services, both as volunteers. They are Gary Donald NOBLE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman NOBLE, and Lloyd Ray
JOHNSON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne JOHNSON.
Royce DAVIS won the Mount Ayr city golf tournament Sunday at the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club. DAVIS shot a 113 for
27 holes of medal play. Maury GEIST finished second with a 118; Dr. Charles LAWHEAD was third with 119; and Leland
DALBEY was fourth with 120.
Mary Ellen MURPHY, daughter of Mrs. H. E. MURPHY of Albuquerque, NM, and Quentin HAYWORTH, son of Mrs. Mina HAYWORTH of
Clarinda, were united in marriage August 7 in Albuquerque.
