Eight representative citizens of Mount Ayr have been appointed members of an adivsory committee for National Youth Administration activities.
They are Mrs. Doyle ANDREW and W. F. HUTCHINSON, park commissioners; C. L. HORNE, city councilman; Dr. C. C. LAWHEAD, dentist;
Dr. J. W. HILL, school board president; George E. WRIGHT, mayor, and S. W. HOLLAND, cafe operator. Each was selected because of the
active interest he or she has displayed in the problems of Mount Ayr youth.
The Maloy Irish won the Ringgold county basketball championship Saturday night by defeating Mount Ayr, 32 to 26. Members of the championship
team are WYMAN and MOBLEY, forwards; CULVER, center; and LYNCH and SHAY, guards.
Max HENRYSON, of Story City, assumed the position Monday of assistant to Earle K. ALLYN, rural Rehabillitation supervisor.
Sam WEDDLE, of Mount Ayr and Dennis OWENS, of Beaconsfield, well known auctioneers, recently accepted the positions of auctioneers at
the Lamoni Community Sales, which are held each Wednesday.
Abner ROCKWELL, of Bedford, and C. W. HAWK, of Beaconsfield, assumed duties February 7, of director and junior investigator respectively, for
the board of social welfare. Mr. ROCKWELL'S salary was fixed at $50 a month and mileage, and Mr. HAWK will receive $80 a month and
mileage. Helen THOMPSON, who has been employed as clerk in the local office for the past two and one-half years, will continue with the work.
Betty BURCHETT, who has been employed for several months at Bryant's Sandwich Shop, has accepted the teaching duties at Poe No. 7, which she
will assume on February 19. The school has been taught by Mrs. Franklin MAIN, who resigned because she is moving out of the community
