Two buildings in downtown Mount Ayr have been receiving face lifts this summer. The TImby building, formerly the
Pheasant Run Steakhouse, has been tuck-pointed, had its east side painted and front remodeled in what will be an
expansion of Smith Sports and Spirits, located just to the west of the Timby building. Another building between
Mitchell Jewelry and The Office is being remodeled with a new look. Upstairs windows and a cupola have been
restored and work is being done on the bottom half of the building front.
Ringgold County drivers did well in the races at Adams County Speedway in Corning again Saturday night, taking a first
in the hobby stock class and a second in the late model racing. Les Elliott of Diagonal took his fifth win of the
season in the hobby stock A feature race. Meanwhile, Paul Glendenning of Mount Ayr took second in the A feature
race in the late model competition.
Three Raiders and one Raiderette were named to Pride of Iowa all-conference baseball and softball teams after the
season completed this summer. Junior Michael Inloes was named as a first team all-conference outfielder, junior
Dustin Larsen and freshman Lance Brown were named second team. For the Raiderettes, sophomore Alison Quick was named
to the second team all-conference squad as an infielder.
