Camille JACKSON of Kellerton plans to retire at the end of the school year as superintendent and principal in the
Clearfield Community school district.
Crowned queen and king of the Diagonal homecoming activities Friday night were Trisha MOFFITT, daughter of Terry
and Kristi MOFFITT of Diagonal, and Trevor WOLF, son of Rich and Cindy WOLF of Diagonal. Both are seniors at
Diagonal Community high school. Both Diagonal basketball teams lost close contests with Moravia.
Postmaster David RICHARDS was notified by the U. S. Postal Service headquarters that the Hawkeye District was number
one - out of 85 - postal districts in 2003 for rural mail delivery performance. Mount Ayt is a part of the Hawkeye District, which
achieved the 97 percent on-time delivery of first-class mail. Mount Ayr rural mail carriers honored were David RICHARDS,
postmaster; Bob BUCK (rural route 1); Alan IBBOTSON (rural route 1-sub); Darin DOLECHECK (rural route 2-sub) and Dan
BARKER (rural route 2).
Two Mount Ayr Community elementary school fourth graders advanced through the regionals in the Elks Hoop Shoot contest
in Red Oak Saturday. Advancing to the state competition in Ames Saturday, Feb. 21, were Amber LILIENTHAL and Drake
DECKER. LILIENTHAL made 13 out of 25 free throws and DECKER made 21 of 25 free throws.
