Merritt TRIGGS of Mount Ayr was recently honored for 21 years as member of the Iowa State Fair board. TRIGGS is retiring this year after serving since
December 1975 on the board that runs the activities of the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. His last term ended this month. Merritt and his wife, Lorene, have
been part of the Iowa State Fair all their 50 years of marriage.
A good deal of the time at the December meeting of the Diagonal school board was spent on personnel issues. Superintendent Bill BJORKLUND will be leaving
the district soon and the board will begin a superintendent sharing arrangement with Clearfield at that time. The superintendent's house will be available
when BJORKLUND leaves and the board discussed what to do with it. The board will advertise it for rent with the renter paying utilities.
