Diagonal's school board approved a new plan to use a waiver of sememster tests for high school students to encourage
good attendance at its regular December meeting. On a trial basis this semester, students who have no more than two
absences and three tardies in the semester will be excused from taking semester exams, in a plan approved by the board.
Ringgold County was one of 41 counties which Secretary of Agriculture Clayton Yeutter declared this week as "primary
county natural disaster areas" because of drought in 1989.
