George SHEPHERD has purchased Ora V. PAYNE'S interest in the skaking rink in the old opera house and is now
sole proprietor.
Among those who appeared on the Thanksgiving Day program of the Oakland Bapist Church were Dora SWIGART, Bea
FOSTER, Beulah MOSIER, Dona SWIGART, Electa CRAFT, Clyde INGRAM, Mildred MOSIER and Frank WALTERS.
Announcement has been made that the law firm of SPENCE &SMITH will be dissolved January 1, but both members of the
firm will remain in active practice. R.H. SPENCE will have associated with H.C. BEARD, who has been practicing law
in Mount Ayr for about ten years. Albert I. SMITH has formed a partnership with George L. BARTOW, who has been a
member of the firm of BARTOW &BEARD, and who was elected county attorney at the recent election. The new firms
will be known as SPENCE &BEARD and SMITH &BARTOW.
High School Notes -- Stella WRIGHT has been chosen by the faculty to represent our school in the county
declamatory contest to be held soon.
