Popular Young Lady Weds

Sylvia Sorensen June Bride

Mr. and Mrs. Soren J. Sorenson announce the marriage of their daughter Sylvia Marie, to Ralph Porter of Alta, Iowa, Saturday June 6, at 1 o’clock at the home. Rev. Scott Porter, brother of the groom, officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The wedding was attended by the immediate family. The bride’s sister, Mrs. George Ruth, whose anniversary falls on the same date, was matron of honor. Roy Sorenson, brother of the bride, attended the groom. Don Ruth was the ring bearer and Evon Ruth the flower girl. The bride’s gown was of white lace; she wore her mother’s wedding veil and carried an arm bouquet of roses. Roses and peonies filled the room. A wedding luncheon was served to those present.

Mrs. Porter was graduated from Whiting High School and attended Morningside College at Sioux City; she was active in the W#.A.A. and Y.W.C.A. She was a successful teacher in Monona County and at Holly Springs consolidated school. Mr. Porter is a graduate of Morningside College, where he belonged to the Sigma Theta Rho fraternity, Sigma Pi Sigma Pre-Engineers and the Y.M.C.A.

They will be at home after July 6, at 4225 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City. A number of delightful parties and showers honoring the bride were held during the month of May.
