James Hogan (b: Nov 27,1873) married Ellen Welsh(b:Dec 29,1871)in the county area of Winneshiek in 1893. In the 1900 US Consensus, James and Ellen resided in Buffton,IA with their 3 children, Laura (1894), Edward (1895)and Mary (1898. James & Ellen both reported in the 1900 Consensus to have been born in Iowa. James was a blacksmith and his parents were Edward Hogan (b: 1843 in Ireland)and Helen Morton (b:Feb 2, 1848 in Ireland) and married in the USA around 1872. Edward was in the Sand & Gravel business.

Edward, Helen, James, Ellen and two of James brothers, John and Edward plus their immediate families immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1906.
