Obituary:--Sorr{o}w has entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Soukup 1½ miles north of town, because of the death of their younger son Edward, which occurred on Palm Sunday at 11 o’clock p. m., March 28th, 1915. He died after a protracted illness and his departure is a great loss and leaves a deep grief to his parents, sisters and brother. Edward was a person of an upright character, quiet disposition, a perfect gentleman, and proved himeslf{sic} to be an honest and true friend to everyone who came in contact with him. He was born April 30, 1888, on the farm where he died, and where he grew into manhood. He passed away at the age of 26 years, 10 months and 28 days. How sad it is that he has left this world while so young, “but the call of God was given, his spirit turned from this outward and dim and will gaze now on the presence of Him.” The funeral took place Wednesday, March 31, at 10 o’clock at the St. Wenceslaus church, Rev. Broz performing the ceremony and delivering a touching sermon. Anton Balik was funeral director. The pall bearers were Edward Ptachek, Lewis Mikesh, Chas. Smith, Joseph Soukup, Jr., James Shevik and Martin Soukup, and they were accompanied by Misses Emma Soukup, Regina Fisher, Emam Mikesh, Regina Soukup, Marry Shevik and Lena Herold. The little flower girls were Lillian Fisher, Otilla Klimesh and Erma and Viola Balik. The floral tributes were beautiful. The deceased was escorted by the Spillville brass band of which he was a member. Edward will long be missed and remembered in love. He leaves to mourn his parents, brother Frank, sisters, Mrs. Frank Philip of near Conover, Mrs. Jake Smith and Miss Celia. The sympathy of the community goes out to the family in their bereavement.
Card of Thanks—We wish to express our most sincere thanks to all our kind friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our son and brother Edward. Also for the many beautiful flowers that were given to him at his death. We also extend thanks to the Spillville band for the splendid music rendered at his funeral.
