Miss Dora Lansing came from Lawler Friday to attend the funeral of Walter Meyer. She returned Monday.

OBITUARY:--After an illness of 12 days Walter Meyer passed away on March 16 at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John O. Meyer, one mile north of Ossian, death being due to appendicitis and pneumonia. About twelve days ago he was suddenly taken ill with appendicitis, but later had been getting along nicely. Saturday night he was suddenly taken sick with pneumonia and grew gradually worse until the end came on Tuesday afternoon. Deceased was born April 10, 1893, in Grand Meadow township, near Postville, at which place he resided with his parents until three years ago when he moved with his parents to this community He was aged 21 years, 11 months and 24 days. He is survived by his parents, three brothers and one sister, namely, Lawrence, Albert, Lloyd, and Viola. Funeral services were held at the home of his parents on last Friday morning at 10:30, conducted by Rev. Blessin, after which the remains were taken to Postville on the noon train, at which place the funeral services were held at St. Paul’s church, conducted by Rev. Blessin of Eldorado and Rev. Schmidt of Postville. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. He was a member of the German church, being confirmed in St. Paul’s church at Postville in 1908. The remains were carried to their last resting place by his six cousins, Fred and Louis Thomas, George Sebastian, Alvin, Arno and Fred Meyer. These from a distance who attended the funeral were his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Noelty, and John Noelty of Burr Oak, Louis Shara of Prairie du Sac, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Meyer of Cresco, Mr. and Mrs. Will Noelty and Mr. and Mrs. Simon Brandt of Ludlow. One hundred neighbors and friends accompanied the remains to Postville Friday.
Card of Thanks:--We wish to express our sincere thanks to all our neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our beloved son and brother Walter. Also for the many beautiful flowers that were given to him at his death. We also wish to thank the Postville German Ladies’ Aid for the beautiful plant which was sent to Mrs. Meyer as a kind remembrance.

On Tuesday last week occurred the death of Walter Meyer, aged 21, occasioned by appendicitis. The deceased was the eldest of the family and death being quite sudden the grief is doubly deep to the parents. The remains were taken to Postville where the funeral was held. A great number of sorrowing relatives and friends accompanied the remains to its resting place.
