Mrs. Edwin Beebe, a one time resident of Winneshiek county, passed away at her home in Oelwein, Tuesday, March 9th, 1915. Mrs. Beebe before her marriage was Miss Malinda Margaret Myres. She was born May 14, 1841, in Fayette county, Pa., coming as a girl in her teens with her parents and settling on a farm on the northwest of Oelwein. Here she remained until her marriage to Edwin Beebe on Oct. 27, 1859. They settled at Fairbanks, where they lived a number of years. They then moved to Winneshiek county, and after ten years’ residence here returned to Oelwein. Her husband’s death occurred March 9, 1901, and for the past twelve years her home has been with her son C. H. Beebe at Oelwein. Mrs. Beebe was the mother of eleven children, seven sons and four daughters, of whom seven remain to cherish her memory. She became a member of the U. B. church in her girlhood and retained an abiding faith in its teachings to the close of her life. The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon at Oelwein.
Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows she was born May 4, 1841 which does not agree with the above. Find a Grave shows she is buried in Fairbank Cemetery in Fairbank, IA. It also shows her name spelled Melinda.
