Anthony Joseph Kruse, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Barthell Eastern Star Home.Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Parish in Festina, Iowa with Rev. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church Friday.
Anthony son of Albina (Schrandt) and Albert Kruse
Anthony was baptized at St. Luke Church and attended St. Luke School in St. Lucas, Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 in Germany. He was a member of the St. Lucas American Legion.
He married Agnes Setter on September 30, 1967, in St. Luke Church in St. Lucas. To this union, one child was born.
Anthony hauled milk for St. Lucas Creamery for several years. He had a passion for Oliver Tractors that he used on the farm. He also enjoyed fixing mowers.
He is survived by his wife: Agnes, son: Gerald, and two grandchildren: Robert (Jazmin Troxell) and Destaney. Four sister-in-laws: Margaret Lundtvedt, Verna Lee, Ruth Funke, and Ella Smith. Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Alvin Kruse and Kenneth (Bonnie) Kruse, father and mother-in-law Gerhard and Marie (Elsbernd) Setter. Brothers-in-law: Arnold Lundtvedt, Harold Lee, Kenneth Funke, and Wesley Smith.
