Paul O. Pfaltzgraff served with distinction more than 50 years as a minister in Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist Churches across Iowa and as supply preacher at various places.
Paul lived in Waverly, Mason City and Hubbard, IA during his growing up years. He graduated from Hubbard high school in 1940, and earned degrees at Westmar College (1944), and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary (1947).
On June 18, 1947, he married Jo Ann Sievert. They have nine children; sons, Philip (Sherry), Mark (Patricia), David (Kay), John, Brian (Carita); daughters, Nita (Richard) Gillham, Lynn (Tim) Hager, Kimberly Turner, Julie Pfaltzgraff; 19 grandchildren and growing, and two step grandchildren; and five step great- grandchildren.
Paul passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 88 years and will be remembered for his love for Christ and his family, commitment to pastoral ministry, speaking ability, singing voice, writing talent, and integrity. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Good Shepherd Fund at The Wesley Village, 1203 North E Street, Indianola, IA 50125 or the Staves United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Madison Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50317.
A Celebration Service will be held 6 p.m., Monday, January 9 at The Heritage Room at The Wesley Village in Indianola. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 10 at the Staves United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
