Donald Duane Jones, 76, passed away on November 9, 2012, in the beautiful Bear Tooth Mountains near Wolf Creek, Montana.
Don (Duane) was born on May 10, 1936, and attended Lincoln High School in Des Moines. He served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne Division before returning to Iowa to marry his beautiful wife, Jo Lorraine (Anderson) Jones in 1958. Together they raised their four children. Don worked for Feilen Meat Company for over 25 years and farmed outside New Virginia, Iowa.
He is survived by his four children, Donna King of Plattsmouth, NE; Debra Ries (Doug) of Davis, CA; Donald Duane Jones II of Sacramento, CA, and Denise Baker (Steve) of Berkeley, CA; sister, Edna Johnson of Des Moines, IA; brothers, Tom Jones of Des Moines, IA, and Charles Jones (Tracy) of Humansville, MO; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Jo Lorraine (Anderson) Jones; parents, William and Ada Jones; brother, Marvin Jones; sisters Marlene Joynes and Sharon Jaeger.
Visitation will be at the Brooks South Town Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Dr., Des Moines on Friday, November 16, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 9 a.m. on November 17, 2012, followed by a memorial celebration of his life at the New Virginia United Methodist Church, 301 West Street, New Virginia, Iowa, at 11:30 a.m.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was a special something else.
