The following obituary is from the Ottumwa Courier dated Monday, October 14, 1946.
[Headline] Cecil B. Shamponoi
"Fairfield - Cecil B. Shamponoi, 48, died suddenly Saturday at 4 p.m. of a cerebral hemmorhage at his home near Olin, Iowa. The body was brought to the Behner Funeral Home here and this afternoon was taken to Mt. Hamill where the services will be held at the Clay Grove church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Clay Grove cemetery.
Mr. Shamponoi was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shamponoi and was born July 9, 1898 and reared in Mt. Hamill. He was a former resident of Bonaparte and Batavia and for the past five years had been employed near Olin.
He was preceded in death by his mother. Surviving are his father and five sisters, Mrs. Manley Pratt of Batavia, Mrs. Goldie Randolph of Ft. Madison, Miss Mary of Mt. Hamill, Mrs. Sam Dick of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Myrtie Irvin of Los Angeles."
