Beings the Ottumwa Courier was the largest nespaper in Iowa in 1895; somebody can do a look up for me.
Alice B. Cooper Conklin; mother of Chester Conklin; of "Keystone Kopp Fame" was found doused in gasoline which was lit and killed her outside her home in 1895 in Mahaska County Iowa. There were a couple of trials but her husband was never found guilty of her murder. She was said to be despondent at the time. Her decendants are trying to find out the truth one way or another. Her husband was Philemon Bliss Conklin who was born 1858 in Illinois. Can anybody in Ottumwa please look in papers for year of 1895 and see what they can find. All help will be deeply appreciated by this family. They want to get a few questions answered.
