Janice,
You don't give us much to go on. Here is a possibility. Do you think this is your Raymond Lewis.
There is a Raymond B. Lewis listed in the 1930 Federal census for Wapello county. According to the census, he was born about 1900 in Iowa and he was divorced. His mother, Belle Spray (aged 70) is living with him. I think the same Raymond B. Lewis is in the 1900 Federal census as follows:
Lewis, William P.(?), head, born Aug 1853 in Iowa
Lewis, Belle, wife, born Jun 1860 in Indiana
Lewis, Fred L., son, born Mar 1887 in Iowa
Lewis, Bessie E,, dau, born Jul 1892 in Iowa
Lewis, Ralph G., son, born Feb 1892 in Iowa
Lewis, Raymond B., born Feb 1895 in Iowa
Lewis, Gladys E., born Oct 1897 in IowaThey indicate that they have been married for 21 years and Belle has had 10 children of which 7 are still living.
Something must have happened to the family - either the death of William or divorce in that I believe that I can find Raymond in the 1910 census living with a family called Koester in Keokuk county and the relationship is "Ward".
I can find no marriage record for any of the boys but Bessie E. Lewis married Clarence E. Myers on 31 Dec 1911 and Gladys married Earl August on 20 May 1914 both in Wapello county.
I don't find any burials for William in either the Wapello or Keokui county WPA records.
