Isaac Herrin was a son of Wm C and Sarah Herrin, and he was born in Wayne County, Indiana, on March 4 1839. In 1841 he came to Eddyville with his parents to assist J P Eddy who established the Indian trading post here in 1840, the Herrin family being the 3rd family to come to Eddyville. He was the oldest settler in town, and in the New Purchase. He married November 16, 1863 to Eunice Volgamore and to them a family of 3 children, Mary died at the age of 1 year, William who died at 15 months old, and Sara Elizabeth who passed away on February 25, 1900. He is survived by one sister, Mrs Mary J Smith and 2 brothers, Ed Herrin and James Herrin. and a 1/2 sister, Mrs J J Linderman, north of town. His father died March 18, 1910, in Cedar City, MO., almost reaching 90 years of age. Isaac had an impeccable memory, and reminisced about the Indian children playmates, aiding in correcting errors in titles to Eddyville property. His sudden death was Tuesday, November 8, 1910, the age of 71 years, 8 months, 4 days, may have been in result of the stress of the fire loss of his home a week ago.
