Betha Parke

Bertha Parke, 87, of Athens, Missouri passed away at her home on Friday, May 1, 1990 at 3:50 p.m

The daughter of Albert and Carrie Cochran Doud, she was born on October 19, 1902 at Athens, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Edgar Parke on January 12, 1927 at Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1965.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Pat) Wagner, Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Biddenstadt, Keokuk, Iowa, and Mrs. Robert (Sandy) Forde, Quincy, Illinois; two sons, Richard Parke of Shellsburg, Iowa, and Roger Parke of Athens, Missouri, with whom she made her home; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Kenneth Doud, two nephews, one niece and a grandson.

She was a member of the Farmington Methodist Church and the Bible Study Club of the Athens community.

Mrs. Parke had lived in Athens for the past 33 years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, 1990 at Shaffer & Sons Memorial Chapel, Kahoka, Missouri with Reverend Fred Malone officiating. Burial was in Athens Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Athens Cemetery Association.
