Harry Daughrity, formerly of Ft. Madison, Iowa, died at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa on December 15, 1990.
He was born Sept. 7, 1908 in Keosauqua to Edmund and Josie Casady Daughrity. At age 3 he was orphaned and raised by Lee and Margaret Daughrity in Keokuk, Iowa.
He married Colleen Mundy Dec. 16, 1934 and they lived in the Ft. Madison and Keokuk area where they owned and operated a grocery store and farmed. He served in the Navy and was stationed in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands in WW II. He was the Lee County Assessor for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kathryn and his brothers, Lawrence of Keosauqua and Selman of Cantril.
Surviving are his wife, Colleen, two nieces, Jane Martin of Cantril, Kay Jenning, Browning, Missouri and a sister-in-law, Laura Daughrity, Keosauqua.
Graveside military services were held Wednesday, Dec. 19, 1990 at 1:30 p.m. at the National Veterans Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa.
