Dr. Rolland L. Miller
Dr. Rolland L. Miller, 72, of 1206 Rosebud Ave., Waterloo, died Friday, Oct. 19, at Allen Memorial Hospital of heart failure.
He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Murray, son of Louis and Hattie Dewey Miller. He married Virginia Watts, a former Van Buren County resident, on June 7, 1942, in Murray.
He graduated from Murray High School, attended Drake University, and graduated from Still College of Osteopathy in Des Moines. He practiced medicine in Readlyn from 1943 to 1946 and in Waterloo until his retirement this year. He taught eight years at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines and taught at Waterloo Barber College. He served for 13 years as Sunday School superintendent of Trinity Lutheran Church, was a charter member of the Waterloo Noon Exchange Club, past president of Waterloo Men's Garden Club, and past president of N.E. Iowa Genealogical Society.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherry Yarema of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Dr. Julie Jones of Arden Hills, Minn.; a son Dr. Kent of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin of Osceola. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Loren and Norris Miller.
Services were held on Monday, Oct. 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in Waterloo Cemetery.
