Marguerite Mounce Bond

Mrs. Jan Dilling of Auburn Bay, Mich. has notified friends of her stepmother, Marguerite Mounce Bond's death on January 7, 1990 in Syracuse, Ind. Burial was on January 9, 1990 in Syracuse.

The following information was compiled by former classmates and a friend of the Mounce family.

Marguerite was born August 31, 1920 in Keosauqua to a former County Clerk and State Representative, Arthur Mounce and wife, May. As a young child she was cared and raised by her step-mother, Ruie Hill Mounce.

She attended the Keosauqua Public School where she was active in music and sports and graduated in 1937. She attended the Alumni Banquet in 1987 honoring her 50th year class reunion.

She was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church. Her church activities included pianist, vocalist and being a choir member.

Upon graduation, she attended AIB in Des Moines and for the next 10 years she was a secretary in Des Moines, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids.

In 1947, she married Robert Hadley and they lived in St. Louis and Pittsfield and Mt. Vernon, Ill. They moved to Marion, Ind. in 1954 and she began secretarial employment with GMC. While in Marion, she and Hadley were divorced.

She married William J. Bond in September 1967 and became the happy mother of four stepchildren. They lived in Syracuse, Ind. She retired in 1980 and they moved nearby to a home they purchased in 1973 on Lake Wawasee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in January 1986; her parents and three brothers, Rex, Roy and Merle Mounce.

Survivors include four stepchildren and four step-grandchildren.
