PASSING OF PIONEER IN OREGON LAST MONTH

Ole K. Knutson Died Nov. 21 at Medford, Ore., at Age of 77--Left Iowa 40 Years Ago

Ole K. Knutson, pioneer of the Scott township settlement died at his home in Medford, Ore., on Nov 21, following a period of declining health.

Mr. Knutson was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Kittel Knutson (Garvig) and was born in Illinois April 12, 1865. The famiiy moved to Iowa in 1866, when Ole was one year old, coming overland by covered wagon. His mother's maiden name was Anna Glosemot, she being a sister of Norway's famous sculptor, Ole Glosemot.

He was confirmed by the pioneer pastor, Rev. Nils Amlund, in the class of 1879. Among others in that class were: P. C. Tjernagel, Lewis Ingebritson, Halvard Knutson, Ole Wierson, Johanna Rosenberg, Betsy Erickson, Sophia Musland, etc. Grounded in the faith, Mr. Knutson died as he had lived a devout Christian.

He was married early in 1887 to Ella K. Johnson, and the first years of his married life were spent on the Knutson farm here, and he moved to Idaho about forty years ago, and from there to Oregon. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and four sons, namely: Abbie, Carl, Selmer, Arthur and Martin. Two children, William and Lorens, died in infancy. He is also survived by several grandchildren and other close relatives.

Mr. Knutson had three sisters and one brother, namely: Helen (Mrs. H. B. Henryson Beroen), Sarah (Mrs. Chris. Sandness), Isabelle (Mrs. Ole Dyvig), and Knute. All have preceded him in death wxcept Mrs. Dyvig, who lives with her son in Webster City.

Funeral services were held at Medford, Ore., Nov. 24.
