DR. GEO. P. JOHNSON DIED AT HIGH AGE
Dr. George P. Johnson, pioneer citizen of the Odd Fellows old people's home in Mason City last Sunday after several years of failing health and strength. The body was brought to Story City and the funeral services were held in the Sevold Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon.
Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada, grand chaplain of the Odd Fellows state organization, officiated at the funeral. Many of Dr. Johnson's local friends, besides a number of Odd Fellows from Nevada, were in attendance.
Dr. Johnson was born at Zeeland, Denmark, June 15, 1855, being thus at the time of his death a little over 87 years of age. He came to America with his parents in 1869. His twin brother, N. M. P. Johnson, died several years ago in Roseburg, Ore., and he has two surviving brothers, namely, Andrew and John Johnson, who have for many years made their home in Kalispell, Mont.
Dr. Johnson ran the first livery barn in Story City. He took a course in veterinary surgery and practiced that profession here until he entered the Home in Mason City some twenty years ago.
Interment was made in the Fairview cemetery.
