AGED ROLAND WOMAN PASSED AWAY FRIDAY
Mrs. Anna Nelson, 95, one of the real pioneers of this part of Story county, died at her home southeast of Roland early Friday morning.
Funeral rites for this beloved mother and neighbor were held Monday, with a prayer at the Nelson homestead, followed by the funeral service at Bergen Lutheran church in Roland, in charge of Rev. Allen E. Nelson. Burial in Roland cemetery.
Mrs. Anna (Rorvig) Nelson was born in Norway, Europe, May 24, 1847. She and other members of the family came to America in 1870 and settled in the vicinity of Roland. There she was married to Nels Nelson in 1876, and they located on the farm on which she spent her entire married life and where she died.
Mrs. Nelson leaves four children, three of them at home. The eldest son, Samuel J. Nelson, lives in Roland, while the son, John, and daughters, Carrie and Celia lived on the old homestead with their mother.
Besides the children there are five grandchildren, all children of the eldest son. They are Mrs. Lowell Iverson of Cooper, Samuel J. jr. of Passaic, N. J., and David, Daniel and William of Roland.
She also leaves one brother, John Rorvig, now in his 90th year, living at Roland. Another brother, Sampson Rorvig, also died in his 95th year.
