OBITUARY

MRS. ANNIE EGELAND

Mrs. Annie Egeland, 63, died at her home in Roland Thursday evening, June 11, after an illness of several months. Two major operations were performed at the Mary Greeley hospital for the removal of a cancerous growth. The operations appeared successful, but her condition steadily grew worse since her return from the hospital March 23.

Her maiden name was Annie Opstvedt, a daughter of Sam and Isabelle Opstvedt. She was born on a farm north of Roland Dec. 10, 1878. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran church at Roland by Rev. Jacobson, and has remained a faithful, life-long member of that church.

She was united in marriage to Edd V. Egeland on April 9, 1895. Mr. Egeland passed on to his reward during the "flu" epidemic in December, 1918.

Six children were born to them: Norris Egeland, Mrs. Arnold Cole and Ernie A. Egeland, all of Roland; S. E. Egeland of Mason City; Mrs. C. V. Thompson of New York City and Clarence Egeland in the U. S. Navy at San Diego, Calif.

She leaves to mourn her death six children, eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. T. H. Torkelson of Story City.

Funeral services were held from the home on Sunday and the Bergen Lutheran church at Roland.
