MRS. GEODGE BALDUS [sic]
Mrs. Jennie Mae Manges Baldus was born at Freeport, Ill., August 22, 1871, and after an intermittent illness of several years died at her home southwest of Story City on June 6, 1942, at the age of 72 years, 9 month and 14 days.
During her infancy Jennie Mae Manges, with her parents, moved to northwest of Ames, where she resided until she was married to George Baldus on Oct. 11, 1888.
Mr. and Mrs. Baldus established their home on a farm southwest of Story City, where they resided until her death. They observed their Golden Wedding in 1938, being married approximately 54 years at the time of her death.
Their marriage was blessed with four children, one dying in infancy. The surviving children are LeRoy of El Monte, Calif., Mrs. Beulah Frandson of Story City, and Mrs. Eva Alfseike of Jewell. Surviving also are her husband; two sister, Mrs. Oley Wold of Gilbert and Mrs. Allie Gross of Ames; four brothers, Carl Manges of Albert Lea, Minn., Sam of Boone, and William and Clayton of Gilbert; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Since girlhood Mrs. Baldus was a faithful member of the Evangelical Church. She having strived to live the life of a Christian, we, who remain behind and who may mourn, do not mourn as those without hope.
Funeral services were held at the home and in the Grace church, of which she had been so long a member. Rev. Ulrich officiated, assisted by Rev. Wendel. The casket bearers were: Nels P. Larson, Paul A. Olson, Holgar Hoffman, Arthur Goodmanson, James Smith and Geo. H. Templer. Mr. and Mrs. Geo R. Sowers sang two selections, with Vernon Anderson at the organ.
Interment was made in the Center cemetery, near the Baldus home.
