Mrs. Chas. Hix Dies Suddenly From Heart Attack
Mrs. Mary Hix, 76, died very suddenly of a heart attack at her apartment in the Ole Halseid home, 1219 Fifth street, Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Hix, who was the widow of the late Charles E. Hix, who died a couple of years ago, had been living alone in Nevada since the passing of her husband, her two sons, Cecil and Lester, both being located in California.
She had been in her usual health and down town the latter part of the week, and the attack and her death came very suddenly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Nevada Church of Christ, with Rev. C. V. Pence in charge. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the body of her late husband. The body is now at the Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing.
The son, Cecil, is now on his way here from his home at Los Angeles to attend the funeral and look after business matters in connection with the passing of his mother.
Mrs. Hix, whose maiden name was Mary Buffington, was born in Story county and lived for many years in Lincoln township, where Mr. Hix owned a farm.
The last 30 years or more their home had been in Nevada.
She leaves besides the two sons, brothers George Buffington of Colo, Clint Buffington of South Dakota, and Aaron Buffington of Red Oak and a sister, Mrs. Lulu Conway of Des Moines.
