Cedar Rapids Gazette — A. Matilda Snouffer, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids before moving to Hull 11 years ago to make her home with a niece, Mrs. H. B. Bolks, died Friday evening [at a nursing home in Sheldon]. She was born March 15, 1868 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of the late William I. and Julian Snouffer. Four brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Only survivors are several nieces and nephews. Those living in Cedar Rapids are Mrs. C. A. Kent, A. J. Snouffer and E. M. Snouffer.
Miss Snouffer was organist for many years at First Lutheran church, of which she was a member. She was a member of Cedar chapter, No. 184, OES and Gethsemane White Shrine, No. 1. For over 25 years she was secretary of the OES Auxiliary to the Children's Home and had never been absent from a meeting. She had taught piano for many years and was very active in the Woman's club.
Miss Snouffer was the last surviving member of the original stockholders of the Peoples Bank.
Services: Turner's at 10:30 Tuesday by the Rev. Theodore Youngquist. Burial was held at the Oak Hill. Relatives from this area who attended Miss Snouffer's funeral in Cedar Rapids were H. B. Bolks, Dr. and Mrs. H. P. Bolks and family and Gordon Bolks of Sioux City.
