Here is what the obit would say if it were in full in the Sioux County Capital paper Jul 22, 1971.
Services held for Wm. Van Oort.
Funeral services were held for William Van Oort of Ireton on July 12, at First Reformed church in Ireton with Rev. Harold Lenters officiating. Wm. Van Oort died July 8, from a heart attack.
Wm. Van Oort was born at Orange City on May 21, 1898 to Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Van Oort and Jane Vellinga (From the 1925 Iowa census record) He married Ethel Muilenburg on January 29, 1920. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Howard of Ireton (From Ethel's obit) and Harris of Omaha NE; two daughters Mrs. Donald (Marilyn) of Centerville IA, and Mrs. John (Carol) Reinders of Ireton and nine grand children, Mr. Van Oort was a retired business man. He was an active member of the First Reformed church having served as Sunday School teacher, cathechism teacher and an elder in the church. Paul bearers were John R. Vander Zwaag, Ryndert De ____, Hans Vander Maten, ____ Muilenburg and Harvey ____. Burial at West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Van Etten Funeral home.
