OBITUARY John A. Brink

Translated:
Sunday evening after a minor illness died here J. A. Brink, at the age of almost 76 years Today, Tuesday, while the corpse is above earth, he would have reached a normal age. Mr. Brink leaves a wife 7 children, the children are all married, with the exception of a daughter still under the parental roof. The deceased was born in Gelderland, Netherlands, and raised in Amsterdam in 1853 he came over and settled first in the woods of Michigan Then he moved to Illinois From there he came to Ackley IA. In 1872 he settled in Sioux County. After living here for some time, he went to Dakota, but after a short time he returned here. Mr. Brink was an elder in the Chr. Reformed. congregation here for several years and was not only respected within the circle of that congregation but widely by all who knew him. The family is assured of our sincere condolences. The burial of the remains will take place today and the religious services will take place under the direction of Rev. Breen.

OBITUARY of Maria Mrs. John A. Brink 1832-1914
Alton Democrat of Dec 5, 1914 Mrs. J. A. Brink born Mary Kools, passed away on Saturday at the age of 82 years, following a sickness of three weeks. Her death was caused by inflammation of the bowels. The funeral services were held from the Chr. Ref. church Monday afternoon.

She was the daughter of Abraham Kools 1804-1884 and Cornelia Jozina Vervate 1799-1847. She married 6 Oct 1854 Kalamazoo MI to Jan Albertus Brink 1821-1897. They had a large family.
