Immigration: Peter Dieleman came with his family in 1847, arrived at Baltimore. Peter and his wife lost a baby at sea Apr 1847, the baby’s name was Geertrui born Feb 1847.

1856 Census of Iowa Peter Deleman 42, born abt 1814 lived in Lake Prairie, Marion, IA wife Francis 40, Maria 15, Meeunus 14, Berbara 12, Catharine 5, Cynthia 4 and Elisabeth 6 mo.
1860 Peter Dillman (Dieleman) age 47 born abt 1813 lived at Black Oak, Mahaska Co. IA, was a farm laborer, wife Franceje 45, Mary 19, Meervis 18, Barbara 16, Chatarina 10, Santina 7, and Elizabeth 4.
1870 Peter was living in Sioux county, age 56, Frances age 53, Mans age 30, living in Holland Tsp 45 Range 43.

Family research: Peter Dieleman was listed in the Centennial book of Orange City IA 1870-1970 page 9, as a pioneer with his family left Pella for their new home in Sioux County in April and May of 1870. This list was originally in the Pella Souvenir book. Peter died in 1874 at Alton IA.

She was the daughter of Meeuwis de Bruije born 15 oct 1769 Axel, Zeeland, Netherlands died 7 Nov 1857 Zaamslag, Terneuzen, Zeeland, Netherlands; and Maria Solomens de Visser. Born 12 May 1780 Zaamslag, Zeeland, died 3 Jul 1855 Zaamslag, Zeeland, Netherlands.

OBITUARY - Peter Dieleman Sioux County Herald of August 20, 1874
Died on Monday night last, of cholera morbus, Mr. P. Dieleman one of the first settlers in the Colony and a well know and highly esteemed citizens. To this family, sorrow and suffering are not new. For years Mr. D. has been afflicted with rheumatism, and all through the spring and summer of 1873 Mrs. D. suffered from a severe fracture of one of her lower limbs, just above the ankle. In this, their saddest affliction, they have the sympathy of the entire community.

OBITUARY of Francosie Dieleman, 1815-1889 (Mrs. Peter) The widow P. Dieleman died Sunday. She was about 74 years of age. With her we lose again one of the earliest settlers in the colony. The funeral was Tuesday afternoon at the First Reformed Church with the service led by Rev. Buursma.
