Employment: Dave started his own business, Dave’s Garage, in Panama, IA; he then worked for the Ford Dealership in Harlan, IA. After his honorable discharge from the army, he returned to work in the Ford Dealership in Harlan, IA. Later, in 1962, Dave bought the Standard Station in Defiance, IA. In 1970, he built a new building on Highway 59 and called it Stessman Service. In 1991, Dave retired and sold his business to his son, Larry.
Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed playing cards with his friends and the grandkids and taking Margie dancing; loved wintering in Texas and Arizona. While in Arizona, he enjoyed helping son Roger in his Battery Center Store. In his spare time, Dave restored two old pickups and a tractor and then enjoyed driving them in local parades.
