Employment: After they were married, Ella Mae and Walter made their home south of Maple River, IA, and had a grain and dairy cow farming operation there. In 1967, they purchased a farm and dairy operation and moved there to Elk Horn, IA.
Hobbies/Interests: Ella Mae was an outstanding cook and baker; she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, dancing, and singing. She was a choir member while attending Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, and her love of singing continued in her later years when she joined the Goldenaires in Harlan, IA. Before Walter’s passing, one could often find the 2 of them playing cards in their kitchen. Ella Mae especially enjoyed the time spent with family and loved having the opportunity to travel with family internationally and to U.S. destinations from coast to coast.
