Employment: After acquiring his degree, he began working at the John Day Company, Omaha, NE and remained there for the next 38 years. He started out in the warehouse and city sales, to buyer, Purchasing Supervisor, Purchasing Manager, Inside Sales Manager, and, ultimately, Senior Vice President/COO. He retired in 2016.

Hobbies/Interests: Loved sports (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes), music (especially Bruce Springsteen), gardening and hosting parties together with Kathy; they attended numerous concerts, grew bountiful vegetable and flower gardens, and cooked elaborate dishes together; enjoyed traveling, including abroad
