LYMAN G. WALKER
Lyman Gardner Walker was born July 18, 1906, near Las Animas, Colo. He passed away at his farm home near Kellerton on April 1, 1978. He was the son of James Milford and Lucia Gardner Walker. His family moved to Kellerton in 1913. He graduated from Kellerton High School in 1925.
On March 21, 1931, he was united in marriage to Anna Berniece Boldon. Of this union, five children were born - Gene (deceased), Robert, Louise, Lyman, Jr. and Barry.
He and Anna took over the operation of the family farm in 1931 and he continued as an active member of the agricultural community until his death -- on the land he loved. Anna will further the Walker tradition, continuing to make her home on the farm.
A loving husband and a fine father, he prized his family which includes: his son and daughter in law, Robert and Loy of Marengo, and their children, Angela, Theresa, Eric and Brett; his daughter and son in law, Louise and Charles Alexander, Jr. of Toronto, Canada, and their sons, Todd and David; his son and daughter in law, Lyman Jr. and Ann of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and their children, Julie and Marc; and his son, Barry of Des Moines.
A memorial has been established in his name at the Kellerton United Methodist Church and contributions may be mailed to the church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., April 4, at the United Methodist Church in Kellerton with the Rev. Walter Zarr, officiating. Rhoades-Wilson funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
Casket bearers were Dean Jackson, Herbert Jackson, Lyle Walters, Gene Sickels, Russell Norris and Francis McDowell.
Honorary casket bearers were Albert Drake, Frances Virden, Glen Bear, Albert Harris and C. C. Brimmer.
