Obituary - Mrs. James SPECK

Mrs. Mary FRASER SPECK was born in Vernon, Wis., July 14, 1855. In early life she moved with her parents to Ringgold county, Iowa. While still but a girl she began teaching school and for many years engaged in this occupation, leaving the impression of her personality for good on many of the young men and women of the community. She was united in marriage with James SPECK on Dec. 20th, 1905, and with him went to their new home in Fairfield, Iowa. She was of a happy, cheerful and hopeful disposition, made many friends, was a great worker in the new organization of the United Presbyterian church at Fairfield, was one of its charter members and one who was dearly loved by all who formed her acquaintanceship. She was very devoted to her husband and made their home happy and cheerful.

She died of blood poisoning at her home in Fairfield, April 10, 1909, aged 54 years, 10 months and 26 days. Left to mourn their loss are the bereaved husband, an aged mother residing near Tingley, four brothers, Messrs. William and John FRASER of Tingley, Donald and Archibald of Diagonal, and three sisters, Mrs. Isabel TENNIS of Shannon City, Mrs. Margaret WELTON of Oskaloosa, and Miss Helen FRASER, who lives with her mother. Loved by many and respected by all who knew her, she has completed her labors and her works which follow her will not allow her to be forgotten.

The body arrived in Tingley Monday evening on the 4:40 train, and the funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. John J. GARDENIER, assisted by Rev. J.M. DUNCAN of Shannon City. Interment at Eugene cemetery.
