Obituary - Mrs. Mary C. STEVENSON
Mary C. GILBERT was born Jan. 4, 1840, and died March 3, 1908 at her home in east Tingley, after an illness of several months. Her childhood home was at Pataskia, in Licking Co., Ohio. On April 7, 1864, she was married to Andrew STEVENSON and in 1867 they moved to Ringgold county settling on a farm just northeast of the present site of Tingley, and were identified with the early settlement of this part of the county. To this union seven children were born viz., B.J. STEVENSON of Baldwin, Kan., Mrs. Maggie LORIMOR of Liberty township, Miss Lizzie STEVENSON of Tingley, Mrs. Sadie SHEPHERD of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Ida ROBISON of Sayre, Okla., and two children who died, May in infancy, and Ellen in young womanhood. Mr. STEVENSON died 11 years ago. In early life Mrs. STEVESON united with the church and to her closing hours she loved to talk of the Christian's hope. The funeral services were held from the home Thursday, March 5, conducted by her pastor, Elder GILLETTE of the Christian church, assisted by Rev. L.R. FREE of the United Presbyterian church, interment being made in Eugene cemetery. Many are the friends of the family who share with them their sorrow.
