OBITUARY ~ BLANCHE LAVERNE (WILCOX) ALLEN
December 18, 1938 ~ April 14, 2018

Blanche LaVerne Wilcox, only daughter born to Hugh and Audrey Mae (Merckling)Wilcox, was born December 18, 1938 at Raymondville, Texas County, Missouri. Blanche went to school in Grant City, Missouri. On September 17, 1955, she married Dean A. Allen in Grant City, Missouri. To this marriage, two children were born: Connie and Ronald.

Blanche lived in various communities during her lifetime before moving to Redding in July 2009. In 1983, Blanche married James T. Swope. In her earlier years, Blanche was a parks and recreation director and also a pre-school teacher. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Blanche loved her jewelry and looking nice. She enjoyed embroidering and quilting; and she loved her dogs!

Blanche passed away April 14, 2018 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Wilcox and Audrey Wilcox Abbott; both husbands; and a brother, Lyle Wilcox.

Survivors include her two children Connie Allen of Redding, IA and Ronald (Charlene) Allen of Buchanan County, Missouri; three grandchildren Nicole Allen, Angie Allen, and Brandon Allen; two great grandchildren Merrick and Jaxsen; two brothers Jack (Teresa) Wilcox of Grant City, MO and Kenny (Sue) Wilcox of Parnell, MO; other relatives and friends.

Blanche was cremated, and no services are scheduled. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, IA is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.
