OBITUARY ~ VICKEY MAYE (RICE) ADAMS
September 14, 1945 - May 10, 2018Vickey Maye Adams, 72, passed away surrounded by her family Thursday, May 10, 2018, in Des Moines, IA. Services will be held 11 am Monday, May 14, 2018, at Grandview Park Funeral Home.
Vickey was born September 14, 1945, in Creston, IA, to Raymond and Iola (Catterson) Rice. She was raised on the family farm where she attended Country School through 8th grade. She later graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School. Vickey truly loved her life on the farm and cherished her memories made there. That love has been passed on to her children and their families.
Most important to Vickey was her time spent with family. She was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Cyclones, the Hawkeyes and NASCAR. Her favorite pastimes were quilting, genealogy, and playing cards.
Vickey is survived by her children, Dana (Tim) Baker of Plattsburg, MO, Darin (Hope) Adams of Detroit Lakes, MN, Dawn (Bryan) Anderson of Lake Park, MN; sisters, Judith Mott of Dallas, OR, Patty (Bill) Wimer of Grant City, MO, Karen (Gary) Wells of Henderson, NV, and twin sister Mickey Dennis of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Matthew (Dani) Baker, Hannah Baker, Maegan Anderson, MacKenzie Kristufek, Clay Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Whitney Schons, Logan Schons, Calvin Adams; great-grandchild, Wade Baker; and special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond; mother, Iola; sister, Alice; brother, Raymond; nephew, Eric; and brother-in-law Stuart.
The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 am Monday, May 14, 2018, at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
